Sea Asparagus, or Sea Beans, are a naturally grown superfood, highly sought after for their “umami” flavors and a wide variety of vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin A, C, D, folic acid, magnesium, potassium, iron, calcium, and zinc. Unlike sea asparagus foraged or grown on salt-irrigated land, Olakai's sea asparagus grows sustainably in unique salt water aquaponic ponds to ensure the highest possible quality tenderness and flavor year-round. Sea asparagus, or Salicornia is a genus of succulent, halophyte (salt tolerant) plants that grow in salt marshes, on beaches, and among mangroves. Salicornia species are native to North America, Europe, South Africa, and South Asia.
